The Club Experience

Boys & Girls Clubs fill the gap between school and home. We provide welcoming, positive environments in which kids and teens have fun, participate in life-changing programs, and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults.

Our Approach:

Boys and Girls Club fill the gap between school and home. We provide welcoming, positive environments in which kids and teens have fun, participate in life changing programs, and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults.

Academics and Education:

BGCNEMS staff and volunteer tutors provide help with homework and projects after school each day. We implement “Power Hour” when the members arrive to the club after school. The Club members maintained an average 3.0 grade average and 100% of High School seniors graduated in 2021.

Health:

We challenge members to become healthy and active by learning new ways to eat nutritionally, manage stress, maintain physical fitness and form positive relationships with peers. Our “SMART Moves” program exposes members to activities designed to develop decision making and critical thinking skills, as well as to learn how to resist or avoid the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and premature sexual activity.

Character and Leadership:

Leadership development, instilling a sense of civic duty and an understanding f the value of giving back to the community are the foundation of the Club experience. Our programs are developing leaders who carry these values with them and become productive, caring and responsible members of the community.

Sports and Recreation:

BGCMS provides its members with physical activities and sports to develop skill and confidence, motivating our Club kids to remain physically fit. All of our clubs have a gym on site for easy access to physical activities. Whether it’s a friendly intramural basketball game between Clubs, our summer football camp. or just a variety of indoor and outdoor physical activities, our goal is to encourage healthy living, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Career Development:

BGCNEMS is committed to preparing its members for the workforce and we ecncourage post education and training. Among these opportunities include guest speakers, field trips to colleges and industries, and job fairs for our members. We know that each of our Club Kids have unique gifts and potential. It’s important to expose to as many options as possible for the educational and career choice, with the goal of creating productive, caring citizens in our communities. Our teenage Club members are also given the opportunity to apply for Junior Staff, which are part-time paid positions in our organization.
